It always breaks me up to know that I’ll never get to meet my favorite comic book artist Michael Turner. He had inspired me so much as a young boy. His work has played a lot in my style of drawing throughout the years. It was his style of work that got me into collecting comic books. I had hoped that maybe one day I’d get to meet him and thank him personally. I used to picture myself as an older person, a comic book artist perhaps. Working for Top Cow. I spent countless hours drawing Aspen Matthews and Sara Pezzini. He died from bone cancer. I remember reading an interview of him talking about his cancer. I remember thinking that he was like a superhero in my eyes and I had faith he could get through it. When I found out he passed away in 2008 I was devastated. I’ll never forget you Mr. Turner. I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done. And even though I had never met you, you have had a big impact on my life. The one cover you drew of Sara for an issue for Witchblade I had drawn on my wall in my bedroom. I’m debating on whether to get a Fathom or Witchblade tattoo. Had been thinking about it over the years. Not sure where I’d want it though.
